Directory Listings Increase Your Traffic

Directory Listings are an excellent way to get your website and business out to users and you can do this easy and for free!

When I first started my web designing business, I came up pretty far back in the result pages of a search, no matter how I searched. That's all changed now, thanks to FREE Directory Listings. Unfortunately, this won't apply for all businesses but it will for the majority of them. Below are the steps I took to add my business to FREE directories and increase my position with search engines. Your business can be added without having a URL for most directories. (Need a website? I went to Google.com (feel free to use my Google search bar at the top of the page) and did a search for Web Design AND Rumford, Maine. And my website was very far back on the results so I looked at the sites that did come up first. The first area of the results was Google Maps, another way to improve your search results  and right below that, the next 3 listings were directories for web designers.

I decided I needed to be listed with these directories. If someone is searching for a web designer in my area, these are the sites they will find first. The registration for these websites was free. The amount of time each registration took was miniscule but the benefits are huge! Try it! Click on any of the sites listed above or use the search button at the top of the page to search for Web Design AND Rumford, Maine. My website (as of 10/30/09) is at the top of all three of these directories and at the top of Google Maps (find out how!). They are professional looking and I know I am being seen.

These directories combined with Google Maps provided me with the top 4 rankings on a google search. The results are more traffic, more website contracts, and a lot of exposure!
