How To Create a Website Page in Dreamweaver CS4
Before creating your first webpage, you need to define your website. It's not hard, but it still needs to be done. Find out how in my article: How to Define a Website in Dreamweaver CS4.
Now that you have defined your site and are at the welcome screen, Click File, New...

Select Blank Page, HTML (middle column), and select the template you want (see preview on far right of screen). Hit Create.

This will bring up a save screen. ***NOTE*** You are saving the .css file (cascading style sheet), not the page.

Create a New Folder.

Call it CSS, hit Open.

Highlight the file name.

Rename the file to Main. This will be your main (and maybe only) .css style sheet.

Here is the page template you selected.

Change the Title to the name of your business, website, etc.

For this one we will use Example.com. This way your page will not be called Untitled out on the web. You should always name your pages based on what is on the page. But at least if you forget to title your page, you'll have your company name.

Next, select File, Save As.

Make sure the file selected is the main Example file and not CSS.

Name the file index and hit Save.

You have created your first page!
