Link Properties: Size, color, rollover effect, and underline style

Links are important to your website or blog for a couple reasons. One, they are what connect all your pages together. And two, they are what most search engines use to index a website. It makes sense then that they should stand out to your visitors. Below is a step by step tutorial on how to set the properties of your links in Dreamweaver CS4.

From the Page Properties box, select Links (CSS). The CSS option makes the link properties part of the template of the page.

Click on the color block to select the color of your link. This will be the way the link looks when someone first comes to the site.  Make sure the link stands out to the visitor.

Next is the rollover link. When the mouse goes over the link, the rollover color shows.

You won't be able to see this effect until  the page is previewed in a browser.

Visited links are what color the link will be after it has been clicked by a visitor. Again, this should be different than the rest of the text.

Next select how you would like your links to appear. I like for mine to be underlined. It is based on preference, but keep in mind again you want the link to stand out.

I usually leave the font and size options as they are. Changing the colors and underline is enough, in my opinion, to make the stand out.
