Things I've Learned from Pat
Alzheimer's is such a challenging disease. It always amazes me when Pat smiles or laughs. She has the weight of the world on her shoulders and unbearable pain in her back, yet she always seems to smile.
Things I've learned from Pat
Stand with a straighter back
Or chronic back pain is yours
If good posture you lack.
I've learned to smile
For others as well as yourself
And politeness at all ages
Always ask to help
Talk about everything
Reminisce of the past
Laugh about it often
In case it doesn't last
Always make sure to express
Your thanks and love
And cherish those close to you
Even those now above
Remember to get up
Whatever it takes
Fight for your life
Even when you ache
You only have one life
So give it your all
And remember to give thanks
To God most of all
