Referral Programs for Publishers and Merchants

So you want to monetize your website? And you're not sure where to begin? Well you've come to the right place! When I started out, I made a ton of mistakes, chased the unicorn, and made only pennies. I struggled for a while, but then it clicked. This article was written to save you time in your search for the best ways to monetize your website.

Of course, Google Adsense is a given way to earn extra money but I find it highly overrated. They cater to the big guys and are very strict in their advertising guidelines. Often people are banned based on a small glitch or error and then it is impossible to reverse the ban. Also you are limited to only 3 ad placements per page.

On the other hand, I really like the reports Google Adsense offers. I was simply blown away by how many report options they have. But I can't stand monopolies and Google shuts out so many of the "little" guys. And you can make just as much money, often more money, and have more control over your ads, using other free monetizing options.

Share A Sale is a different kind of marketing than Bidvertiseer and AdBrite. Share A Sale is an affiliate marketing warehouse of sorts. Basically, they collect merchants who want to advertise and put them in touch with publishers of content on the Web. The publisher then puts ads of merchants on their website and makes money whenever someone clicks on the ad. I like this for more direct advertising of particular products. The other two, Bidvertiser and AdBrite supply ads from their supply and you only need to join their program and your done. I like this for a worry free approach. You just put the ad spot on your site or blog and they handle the rest.

Below are the top 3 companies I use as an alternative (or addition) to Google Adsense:

Remember, all these companies are free to join so you should never have to pay to monetize your website. NEVER. If you have to, I would seriously consider before signing up.

Some people monetize their website and hit the jackpot. Others pay for the cost of having a site. Still others make only pennies. It is important to have good keywords, and ads related to your topic. Also, placement of ads is important.

Honestly, monetizing my website and blogs was so easy, I don't know why more people don't start!
